France Holidays essential tips . Le Passeport Gourmand a MUST ! Spice up your weekend getaway ! You pay one meal out of two ...not bad.
We' re a French and English couple who enjoy searching out brocantes and vide-greniers (empty the attic as the French say ) in nice villages off the beaten track.
For us a weekend away means browsing in brocante fairs sampling good local food and wines.
With this blog we aim to share our "coup de cœurs".
First tip:
If you like eating out make sure that you've bought a Passeport Gourmand with it you will only pay one meal out of two.
You have a choice of about 150 restaurants in La Loire Atlantique, La Mayenne, Le Maine et Loire. It includes your local crêperie and the one star Michelin you've always dreamt of trying.
You can get it on line or in most Tourists Offices. It will cost you around 60 euros but it pays for itself after the first couple of meals and it's valid one year.
Second tip :
You ' ll need good sites to know when the brocantes and vide-greniers take place. Brocabrac and vide-greniers.org are reliable.
Third tip:
French vide-greniers start early and that 's when you find most bargains.
Our first stop will be In Clisson not far from Nantes and in the Muscadet white wine area
